![]() The new medical professional - therapy animals. They share smiles, joy and healing hearts. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is becoming more widely used to aid in healing, both medically and emotionally. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, animal-assisted therapy uses companion animals such as dogs to provide opportunities for motivation, education, or recreation to improve a person’s quality of life. These animals become an integral part of the treatment process meant to improve the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive functions of humans. Therapy "professionals" can be dogs (most common), cats, llamas, horses, and rabbits to name a few. Our Comfi Pets family can attest to the benefits of their therapy. We've all experienced that immediate calm when petting our furry companion at the end of a hard day's work, or bringing comfort from experiencing loss. Do you think your dog or cat can help heal others? If so, check with local organizations, such as The Alliance of Therapy Dogs, to see if your pet qualifies for the certification process. Comfi Pets enjoys providing our own therapy through photos and captions shared by our readers. We hope to give you a smile, a moment of peace when you read our posts. All this is possible by sharing our loving pets. We thank you who share your photos and stories with us. Comfi Pets are Happi Pets...are Happi People.
